October marked a turning point for Africa’s tech ecosystem: over $442 million raised,
making it the second strongest month of 2025, after July.Among the major winners, Spiro secured $100 million to deploy 100,000 electric motorcycles by the end of 2025, while Moniepoint raised an additional $90 million to expand its fintech services internationally. In total, 53 startups raised more than $100,000.
Angolan startup Anda has just raised $3.4 million in seed funding from Breega and Speedinvest.
Founded in 2022, the company is tackling a vast and largely informal market: motorcycle taxis, estimated at over one million drivers. Its “drive-to-own” model enables riders to acquire their motorcycles while working through a transport and delivery app.

HerRyde (Nigeria): A Beautiful Mission Hindered by Lack of Capital
Designed as the “Uber for women,” HerRyde set out to offer safe and accessible transport services for Nigerian women. Within a few months, the startup had mobilized 200 female drivers and completed over 2,000 rides, proving there was real demand.
But behind the momentum, economic reality quickly caught up with the team. Without fundraising or sustainable financial backing, maintaining such a costly operation became impossible. The company eventually went into hibernation to “rethink its model.”
Lesson:
A social mission alone isn’t enough to build a sustainable business. In capital-intensive industries, impact also needs financial fuel.

Choosing the Right Percentage (P)
If only 5% of your customers reach your early success signal, that’s not Product-Market Fit — that’s luck. The P percentage represents the share of your customers who reach the key event within the defined timeframe.
For an SMB market (small and medium businesses), a rate above 60% is considered good. For an enterprise (B2B) market, aim for at least 80%.
Interpretation:
If your rate is too low → you’re about to scale on a fragile foundation.
If it’s too high → you’re waiting too long to accelerate and risk missing your market timing.
Example:
We advise startup to aim for 70% for P. Below that threshold, slow growth and focus on optimizing the customer journey.

Tech POV:
The Importance of Great Talent in Building Successful Startups
At Future Studio, we’ve seen one truth proven time and again: great ideas may spark beginnings, but it is great talents that sustain progress. Every founder, product, and innovation we’ve worked with thrives because of individuals who bring skill, passion, and purpose to their work. Building and nurturing talent is the foundation of a healthy startup ecosystem.
In early-stage companies, each individual talent influences how the team collaborates, communicates, and responds to challenges. When a startup attracts people who share its values and vision, it builds a strong culture that sustains motivation and resilience, even through difficult periods. This collective spirit becomes a competitive advantage, guiding decision-making and defining how the company grows.
Innovation is a product of people willing to question norms, experiment, and explore new possibilities. Talented team members foster a culture of continuous improvement that allow creativity and discipline to coexist. In startups, where innovation is often the only way to survive, having such individuals makes all the difference.
Great talent is the foundation of every successful startup. The right people bring ideas to life, shape company culture, and drive innovation that lasts. For founders, recognizing and nurturing talent is the most strategic decision they can make for the future.
We are dedicated to connecting visionary founders with exceptional, verified talent within our ecosystem to help turn ideas into reality. If you’re a skilled professional ready to thrive in a startup environment, we invite you to fill out this form.
That’s all for this week. See in next week!
